SUPPORT THE FARMER FUND

Farming is inherently challenging and risky. But when a natural disaster or medical emergency strikes, farmers, along with their farm businesses, can become acutely stressed, straining their very livelihood.

The Farmer Fund was established as a safety net for local and organic farmers to overcome setbacks wrought by natural disasters or health crises.

The fund assists farmers that feed the state of Georgia primarily through farmers markets, Community Supported Agriculture (CSAs), and restaurant sales – a foundational element in the supply chain of healthy food to our local communities.

Your support ensures that The Farmer Fund will be there to provide a lifeline to farmers - and all of the people who rely on them for access to local, healthy food.

THANK YOU!

We want to thank all of our donors and funders, as well as our partners – Food Well Alliance, Wholesome Wave Georgia, Community Farmers Markets, The Common Market Southeast, and The Conservation Fund, who collaborated to support farms impacted by Winter Storm Elliott. In just two months, our community contributed $230,000, enabling us to provide relief to 60 farms in 35 counties devastated by December’s deep freeze.

LET’s BE PREPARED!

The past few years have shown us that we must be prepared for emergencies, and our farmers are especially vulnerable to climate-related weather changes, public health crises, and natural disasters. Furthermore, as a foundational element of our supply chain of healthy local food, they are especially critical to our communities when a significant disaster strikes. Healthy farmers = healthy communities.

Since 2018, more than $390,000 in direct support has been accessed by farmers who’s ability to provide food for their communities has been threated by natural disasters or health care emergencies.

The Farmer Fund is supported by caring businesses and individuals, like you. When you donate to The Farmer Fund, you are providing direct support to farmers facing a temporary and acute need.

Emergencies are unpredictable, and unavoidable. Let’s be prepared - make a donation today!

The Farmer Fund is managed by Georgia Organics, a registered 501(c)3; all donations are tax-deductible.

RELIEF IN ACTION

With support from our partners and the community, The Farmer Fund has mobilized several specific relief efforts for disasters with widespread impacts, including the floods in 2015, Hurricanes Michael and Ian in 2018, the COVID-19 pandemic, and most recently, Winter Storm Elliott.
